God is righteous, which means that his actions are just, pure and upright. We were created to experience the attribute of righteousness too, through a commitment to live with integrity, justice, fairness and uprightness in all areas of our lives. Our righteousness is not drawn from some inner source, but from justification and sanctification found only through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ.
God is creative! We see this in His initial acts of creation recorded in the book of Genesis. It continues as he sustains the earth, and can be viewed any time we take a walk in nature. We also see God knitting together human life in the womb of the mother, every individual a new work of art. The Old Testament especially speaks of the splendor of creation, but we must be sure to worship creator and not creation. That said, we too can embrace the creative arts as an act of worship, if we endeavor to glorify God with our creativity.
God?s love means that He gives of Himself to bless and benefit His creation. We experience the love of God most directly through a relationship with Him, made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, the love that we experience from God is meant to spur us on to love God and other people as well.
Expanding on God?s goodness are the attributes of mercy, grace and patience. These attributes are special examples of God?s goodness in which He relates to people in specific ways. Through His mercy He shows kindness to those in misery or distress. Through His grace He gives unmerited favor to those who deserve punishment. And through His patience, He withholds punishment for sin to promote repentance and reconciliation. As each of these attributes are experienced in our lives, they are meant to in turn be shared with others.
