Is the Bible Reliable?

thomboardTonight the Jr. High youth explored claims they may soon hear, that the Bible is unreliable because it has been changed by people over time and modified to say what the copiers wanted it to say.  We learned that this could not ever happen, simply because of the amount of copies that were made when the Bible was originally written and the devoted believers who were willing to even die to preserve the Gospel accounts.  Also, the fact that we have such ancient manuscripts preserved in the Dead Sea Scrolls makes our modern day Bible quite simply THE most reliable document in existence today.  Frankly, if we can’t trust the authenticity and fidelity of the Bible then nothing ever written can be trusted.

3girlsIt has been one of our goals as a group to obey 1 Peter 3:15, thereby equipping our kids to defend themselves and their beliefs as they venture out into the world.  It is my prayer that they have been adequately fortified tonight.

Key Thought: THE BIBLE IS THE SINGLE MOST RELIABLE HISTORICAL DOCUMENT ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!

The memory Verse for next week is:
Hebrews 11:1-6
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead. By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death; he could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.  And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
