Tonight we started a 10 week study on the trinity. Specifically God the Father.
We learned that as much care and thought as we may take in planning something as complicated as a tree house, God created the entire universe yet He knows even the number of hair on our heads (Matthew 10:30). He even knows how many hairs Justin doesn't have on his head. Our tree house was filled with things the kids thought would be a necessity; Olivia couldn't have a tree house without her iPod, Corbin wisely chose books to have in his tree house, Amanda decided she wanted to talk very loudly, and perhaps most profoundly, Tommy thought it wouldn't be any sort of tree house without a friend. See if you can tell which drawing is supposed to be which item...
Bill thought it would be nice to have running water and I have always wanted a water balloon canon in a tree house.
We also saw how our knowledge before we know God is like a glass of water that is full to the brim. When we come to know God through Jesus Christ He pours into us knew knowledge (pinto beans) while at the same time pushing the worldly knowledge (water) out. Notice that there will always be water in our glass no matter how many pinto beans we try to squeeze in it.
Finally, we learned from Abraham that the relationship between Isaac and Jesus shows us that God is actually the source of salvation (Gen 22:8). This is affirmed in John 3:16. We may have salvation through Jesus, but it is in fact from God. We realized in this lesson that God is our Father. He created us and said it was very good.
Key Thought: God made me and you, and He doesn’t make mistakes.
Our memory verse for this week is Hebrews 11:1…
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
