So... you need to find a church, eh?

We know that can be quite a challenge, so we have compiled this section of pages to help answer some of the questions we get asked a lot, and hopefully take some of the anxiety out of finding a church home. Of course, if you still have questions you can email us, or better yet, come and experience the church on a Sunday morning.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

Finding a church can be hard work...

You never know what to expect when you attend a church for the first time. You get up early, drive to an unfamiliar building filled with strangers, spend an hour or more with them, only to find out that it’s not quite what you are looking for in a church. If only you could have some idea of what an average worship service is like before going to one! The following is an honest description of an average Sunday morning at North Country Fellowship.

As you enter our building you will immediately notice the Sunday morning buzz created by dozens of children running around. Both military and local families of all ages are in attendance. As you enter the meeting room (where the service takes place), you will notice a comfortably modern feel. The chairs are nicely cushioned. Worship music is playing over the sound system and people are actually happy to be at church!

The live worship band will start the service around 11:00 AM and lead everyone in 4 or 5 songs. Drums, guitars and piano are all used in our musical worship. The words to the songs we sing are projected on a screen for you to follow along. The music is modern, contemporary and exciting!

As the singing ends, we will pray and one or more of our pastors will begin to teach from God’s word. We believe that the Bible is worth studying every Sunday so we make it a priority to do so as a church. The messages are clear and apply to everyday life. If you own a Bible, bring it with you and follow along. We usually spend 35-45 minutes learning from scripture.

Afterward, people tend to hang around, talk and just enjoy each other's friendship.

Once a month we celebrate and remember the death of Jesus Christ through a ceremony called “communion” (it’s also known as “the sacrament”, "the Lord's Supper" or “the Eucharist”).

During the teaching time (after the music), children from age three through fifth grade may attend Spiritual Life Classes. Most kids find this time to be an absolute blast! If you have a baby or toddler under age three, we provide nursery facilities with a large window to the service and a speaker so you can catch the service and still care for your child. All of our children's workers have had background checks because safety matters to us.

We are an imperfect group of people trying to pursue Jesus Christ on the Journey of Faith. Sunday morning is our chance to join together in corporate worship. It’s a breath of fresh air in the midst of a hectic life. We look forward to meeting you on Sunday! Get directions here.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Mission & Purpose

North Country Fellowship exists for the purpose of bringing glory to God our Father. We do this by accomplishing the purposes He has designed for the church: whole-hearted worship, accountable community, life-application discipleship, service to others and introducing others to Jesus.

For a more detailed look at out purpose and structure you can attend our membership class. Watch the church calendar for the next class date.

Our Beliefs

  • We believe the Bible is God's Holy Word, inspired and without error.
  • We believe that God exists in three Persons -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, sinless life, atoning death, resurrection, ascension and personal return.
  • We believe that man is sinful and eternally lost without Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in salvation by grace through Jesus Christ and the eternal security of the believer.
  • We believe the Lord has left the believer with two ordinances: Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
  • We believe that the church consists of all who have placed saving faith in Jesus.

HISTORY OF NCFCHURCH

A History of NCF

NCF began when church planter, Rev. Patrick Wilson, moved to Evans Mills, NY to start a Conservative Baptist Church in July of 1986. Initially, Pastor Wilson held Bible studies in his home. In December of that same year, he and his family moved to South James Street in Carthage, and continued the home studies until the gathering grew so much a new location was needed.

On the first Sunday of October in 1987, NCF held it’s first official service at the YMCA in Watertown. Weekly meetings continued there until the church moved its services to 267 State Street, Carthage on September 3, 1989. The church thrived and within a few years it out grew it’s State Street location and once again pondered a move.

On February 11, 1990, Vincent & Elizabeth Sayre offered to sell NCF five acres of land on the Sayre Road. The purchase price was one dollar. In January of 1991 construction began on the new building and on August 3rd the church celebrated its first service at 35206 Sayre Road, its current location.

Rev. Wilson remained with NCF as their pastor until January of 1994 when he relocated to Leroy, NY where he is still serving as pastor today.

Pastor Mike Biolsi joined the pastoral staff at NCF in October of 1990 as the Youth Pastor. When Pastor Wilson relocated in 1994, Pastor Mike stepped in as the Interim. After 15 months the church decided to select him as Senior Pastor in 1995.

In June of 2003 the church paid off it's mortgage four years ahead of schedule. People from the church, and many people who have never stepped foot in our church, all gave sacrificially to help raise over $20,000 in a 5 month period. The goal was to be able to clear the debt to hire more staff to help reach more people.

Heidi (Monaghan) Hunter joined the church staff in 2005, and served in a ministry support role, working with the women of the church, teaching classes, and leading community groups. Heidi married Paul Hunter in May 2006, and moved to Reno, Nevada to pursue ministry with her husband.

In November of 2006 NCF added Pastor Len Flack to the pastoral staff. Pastor Len is a home-grown pastor, having accepted Christ through the ministry of the church in 2001. After graduating from Bible College, he returned to the area to serve at NCF.

We have faced many challenges during our journey as a church, and we have many more to go. With God's help we look forward to making a dent in the universe for Him.
